April 2022 Newsletter

Monthly Newsletter - 4/27/2022

Hello everyone! Welcome to this month's newsletter! This is NMBO founder Nathan Weber, and I have some Bigfoot-related updates as well as some personal updates, so read until the end if you're interested!

One topic I saw frequently during the month of April revolved around the nature of this photo to the right. Allegedly, this photo was taken in 1894 in western Canada by trappers. The story goes that they encountered the creature, shot and killed it, and took this photograph. The photo was allegedly stolen from the Hudson Bay forestry records. The story then goes into detail about how there was more than one photograph, but ultimately this is all we have to analyze. It is easy to see a hairy, humanoid animal in this photo. The bodily proportions come off as human-like and the positioning of the forelimbs suggest some sort of bipedal nature.

Meanwhile, some say it is a Lynx or Mountain Lion, which I disagree with entirely. I do not see any features that suggest a feline animal besides the length of the limbs, which could suggest a Mountain Lion, but I still find it hard to believe. The coloration seems off and the shape of the head, which I will delve into later, does not fit the shape of a big cat. The image below allows great comparisons between the two body plans.

If you look closely towards the bottom of the unidentified creature's head, you can make out the lower jaw and the upper snout of a dog. You can even see the dark nose with what could be snow in the nostrils, as well as the flopped-over ear on the subject's left side (our right) of it's head. If you look at the rear forelimb, you can make out what appears to be a padded paw as well. This photo is definitely intriguing, but if you wanted my truthful opinion, I would say that I am confident it is a large hound. Case closed...maybe.

What I think the creature in this photograph really is lies more in the canine family. Specifically, some sort of large wolfhound. The Irish Wolfhound is a close match, with it's dark coloring and long body and limbs. The image below provides good comparison between the bending of the forearms seen in the disputed image.

Onto the next topic, which is that news has still been slow in Minnesota. Most of us here at NMBO are wrapping up school for the year, while others are working full time jobs during the cold season. Warmer months lie ahead and expeditions have been sprouted, but for now, NMBO is waiting to hear from the rest of the nation for news on Bigfoot.

In other news, I will be wrapping up my degree in Ecology! I will be a graduate in May and have interviews for various hatchery positions and an interview for Conservation Officer training! This next chapter of my life, while still including NMBO, will definitely be a step up from the pace of college life and I look forward to sharing what I can with you all in next month's newsletter. Thank you all for reading, and happy hunting!
